Peripheral Angiogram

Peripheral Angiogram

There are multiple ways to look at the blood vessels of the body such as arteries and veins. The vessels of the abdomen, pelvis and legs can be visualized using ultrasound, CAT scan, MRI and angiogram. An angiogram is an invasive method using fluoroscopy (XRAY) in the cath lab. The carotid vessels (artery in the neck) can also be imaged.

The benefit of looking at vessels in the cath lab is when there are blockages we are able to open blockages for better blood flow. These are invasive procedures that can be done in the cath lab in hospitals or in vascular centers.
